How often should I change my AC’s air filter?

On average, you shouldn’t go longer than two months without changing your air filter. Great air quality comes from changing your air filters before they negatively impact the air quality in your home. Additionally, the frequency of how often you should change your air filter depends on your living environment. Important questions to ask yourself are:

  • How many people are currently living in my home?
  • Does anyone suffer from allergies?
  • Is my home pet-free, or do I have 3 shaggy dogs?

If you’re unsure about your AC unit’s air filter, we’re available 24/7 to answer any of your questions.

How do I clean my AC filter?

If you are currently using a reusable air filter, it’s crucial to keep it clean to prevent restricted airflow and debris particles from entering your home. We recommend cleaning your air filter once every two months, using a vacuum to remove all the dirt and dust that has accumulated on the surface. Then, gently wash it with warm water and mild detergent and let it dry before re-installing it.

It’s important to clean your filter in the summer, as the humidity and increase in temperatures can produce more debris than in the winter.

How do I replace my air conditioner filter?

There are 3 easy steps to replacing your AC filter.

  1. Turn off your AC unit and locate the filter.
  2. Inspect what size and type you need. Usually, the old filter has the size printed on it, and determine the right new filter to install for the comfort of your current home.
  3. Install the new filter, making sure it’s clasped in the right position and direction.

If you need assistance, or unsure about which filter is right for your AC unit, we are more than happy to help!

What AC air filter should I buy if I have allergies?

Over 1 in 4 Canadian have current allergies. We can help your home decrease its dust and pollen that enters from the outside by helping you choose the right filter.

Typically, polyester air filters capture around 80% of the pollutants in your home. We provide high-efficiency air filters that can trap up to 95% of tiny dust particles that will decrease your sneezing and increase the good times in your home.

If you are currently experiencing allergies, whether brought upon by the spring season or outside particles infiltrating your air quality, it’s best to replace the air filter once a month.
